Telephone interview is divided to traditional telephone interview and computer assisted telephone interview (CATI).
In traditional telephone interview, surveyor selects certain informant sample and asks questions on questionnaire and notes answers. Surveyor collects data in some place or in a special telephone interview room in a certain time period. Superintendents will be in charge of interview monitor and sample control on spot.
A simple mode of telephone interview is traditional dial mode. At present, telephone interview is combined with computer to build up CATI system, which spares time as some steps such as dial, questionnaire presentation, data entry and automatic record etc. are avoided.
